MEET THE TRICHOLOGIST
Hi! I’m Shara Thredgold, a certified and practising member of the International Association of Trichologists (IAT). I live and breathe all things scalp and hair health related!
I completed my trichology certification with IAT, as they offer the only university-designed study pathway in the field.
IAT’s practising members are kept up to date with all the latest treatment pathways, current studies, and must adhere to a strict code of ethics.

My Story
Having worked in the hair industry for 11 years, I learnt quickly that without a healthy scalp, the hair would not behave and look the way my clients desired. I quickly adapted to an ethos of delivering amazing hair results with a holistic approach that prioritises the health and condition of my clients’ hair and scalp.

During high school and my early hairdressing carer, I personally struggled with my own hair, scalp, and health issues, leading me to work in a salon that aligned with my personal values of using the best quality products with the lowest amount of harmful ingredients.
Clients who experience trichological problems tend to be more wary of what is used during their hair services, leading many to the salon and ultimately contributing to me developing a stronger passion and understanding of trichology.

During my hairdressing career, I found myself increasingly referring clients to a trichologist and due to that, and a deep passion I have for health and wellness, I decided becoming a trichologist was the perfect solution for my clients and personal interests.
About
Before hairdressing, I would not have known what a trichologist was, and like a lot of people, probably would have thought it was the study of ‘3s’!
However, my study has definitely taught me more than 3 things- but here are 3 I would like to share-

-
Most people will experience a scalp or hair problem in their lifetime
-
Most often, shampoos, and generic hair, skin, and nails supplements will not benefit hair loss, especially if you do not know what type of hair loss you have and what is causing it
-
There are things that can help! People are often under the impression that hair loss and scalp problems are just a sentence you are stuck with. However, for most disorders, there are a range of treatment options available that can help!
Many people have experienced embarrassment or shame about their scalp and hair problems. I want to reassure you that you are not alone! I have been there!
It is often not until we experience a trichological issue that we realise how much weight our hair holds in our sense of self-esteem and beauty.
I have experienced trichological problems firsthand.
I have suffered with scalp/ear psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis that made me self-conscious of wearing darker coloured clothing that may show flaking skin. I also shed A LOT - when my body is subjected to stress, like a severe fever, infection or nutritional deficiency.
To manage and heal my trichological issues, my study of trichology and health started long before I endeavoured on my official certification due to my vested personal interest in learning how to heal and manage my own disorders.
I’m happy to report that I am no longer under their control, they are under mine!
Assisting people with their own struggles, is something I hold close to my heart and feel privileged to provide care for.
I hope that my story has inspired you to seek help for whatever trichological issue you may have, no matter how small!
And, I always like to mention- prevention is better than cure!
Meaning that, catching something in the early stages, greatly increases the chances of great outcomes.
So, don’t hold out on seeking professional help for trichological issues.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.
Be Healthy, Be Happy!
