WHAT IS TRICHOLOGY?

It is the science of our hair and scalp.

A Trichologist is a specialist who seeks to improve and assist patients with a multitude of hair loss and scalp related problems.

Trichologists are specialists in trichoscopy  and will utilise this skill to better diagnose, understand and track the nature of your concerns.

What we can help with:

1

Diagnosing the type and cause of hair loss (alopecia)

2

Male and female pattern thinning- commonly referred to as genetic thinning

3

Therapies and management for psoriasis

4

Treating scaly, dry, oily, or itchy scalp conditions

5

Hair shaft problems and breakage concerns

6

All other hair and scalp-related concerns, including eyebrows!

WHAT IS TRICHOSCOPY?

It is the use of a 'trichoscope' magnification tool that allows us to see the scalp and hair follicles at high definition and magnification.

Through the comparison of trichoscopic images, one of the largest benefits of trichoscopy, is seeing improvements in your hair/scalp long before the difference is visible to you in the mirror or by standard photographs.

It allows Trichologists to see signs that can guide us to diagnosing the type of problem being experienced.

Using the trichoscope we can identify and track the progress of-

  • Inflammation around the hair follicles

  • Empty hair follicles potentially capable of new growth

  • New growth in the early stages

Trichoscopy can also be used to examine individual strands of hair that we suspect have structural issues and/or breakage.

WHY CHOOSE A TRICHOLOGIST?

We look at overall health, nutrition, and medical history to uncover factors potentially responsible for trichological problems in the effort to discover and correct the underlying cause of your hair loss or scalp concern.

Our goal is to help your body better support your hair and scalp through holistic and non-invasive treatments, without negative side-effects .

Supplementation, nutrition and topical treatments are just some of the therapies trichologists may use to achieve results.

Trichologists not only study the physiology of the hair and scalp and its associated diseases, but they also study to gain a thorough understanding of how complex body systems, including the endocrine, immune system, and nutrition, integrate and affect our hair.

You do not require a referral to book a trichology consultation.

The health of the hair and scalp is strongly influenced by the relationship it has with our general health and other disorders of the body.
